How scoring works

Accuracy × difficulty, with a speed bonus and a small cost per hint.

  1. Accuracy, out of 100: points for each part of the accusation you get right, plus points for good proof.
  2. × difficulty: Easy ×1, Medium ×2, Hard ×3, Expert ×4.
  3. × speed: up to +20% for finishing within the case's par time, fading to nothing at three times par. Only applies if you named the right culprit, and not to a finish so quick nobody could have read the case (under a fifth of par).
  4. × hints: −5% for each hint shown, never more than −30%.
  5. × attempt: your first attempt counts in full, the second half, any later one a quarter.

Speed is the real time you spend playing. Breaks of more than three minutes between moves aren't counted.
