Privacy
The short version: we keep what we need to run your account and your games, we take payments through Stripe, and we don't sell or share anything with advertisers. There are no adverts and no tracking cookies.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, your detective name and, if you add one, a profile picture. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Your games: your moves, notes, scores and anything you type to a suspect, so you can pick up where you left off and so your scores can go on the leaderboard. We read what players type, without names, to improve the cases.
- Your purchases: which cases you bought and whether you're a member. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Messages to us: anything you send through the help chat, with the email address you give, so we can reply.
- Visits: each page visit is counted without cookies. Your IP address is never stored: a visit is counted under a code that changes every day, so nobody can follow you from day to day or tell who you are.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. That's all. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to accept.
Who helps us run the club
A few trusted services handle data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the service: Supabase (accounts and saved games), Stripe (payments), our email provider (sign-in links and receipts), Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google) and our hosting provider. None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
The leaderboard
Finished cases put your detective name and score on the public leaderboard. Your email address is never shown. You can change your detective name any time in Settings.
Removing your data
Delete your account from Settings and we remove your account, saved games, scores, profile picture and purchases straight away. Payment records that the law requires us to keep stay with Stripe. To ask for a copy of your data, or anything else about privacy, message us.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and, for anything significant, tell you by email first.
